Rist Vs. Ironton

Synopsis:

I approached the door slowly and could hear her screaming. Instead of waiting for backup, I made a decision that I now am grateful for. He had a knife to her throat and her head was bleeding. He got very disturbed by me being a female officer, and I walked about two feet toward him and said, “Why don’t you pick a fight with a woman who can fight back. This really made him pissed, and he threw the woman to the floor, calling me a “dyke bitch” and now pointing the knife at me, which is what I wanted to happen. I told her to run outside to neighbors and she said she couldn’t find her kids. I yelled out, “this is the police department, kids, come to my voice. It’s ok! He with a knife and my weapon drawn the children that were hiding in the closet ran to safety. Instead of shooting and killing him, I put my gun back in my holster. I ignored the knife and said, “Put that down on the table, honey, you do not need that.” I reached my hand out and he dropped the knife and took my hand.

After counseling and time in jail, I would stop by and chit chat from time-to-time.
